Tegernsee

The Tegernsee, lying in the foothills of the alps, is 6km long and 1.5km wide at it's widest point. It was created like most bavarian lakes after the last ice age. The very varied countryside, the quaint "Alpenland" atmosphere and the well developed tourist villages around the lake, have made this area a well loved recreation area for German and foreign visitors. Especially attractive are the numerous mineral springs and the famous health resorts, the large selection of cafés and restaurants, as well as the "Wallbergbahn" and the casino at Bad Wiessee.
